Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday a reduction of Rs 4.04 per unit in electricity prices for industrial consumers, aiming to provide relief and support to Pakistan’s industrial sector. The move is expected to lower production costs and boost competitiveness for local manufacturers.
Speaking at a ceremony honoring leading exporters and business figures, the prime minister emphasized that the government’s role is to create a conducive environment for business growth, rather than engaging directly in commercial activities.
He highlighted that the administration is committed to steering the country toward economic growth while welcoming input and suggestions from the business community. The government plans to consult with industry representatives when formulating economic policies to ensure decisions reflect practical business needs.
During the event, PM Sharif praised the cooperation between political and military institutions, noting that such collaboration is opening new pathways for national development and stability.
The electricity price cut is part of broader measures aimed at strengthening industrial growth, encouraging investment, and supporting exporters as Pakistan seeks to expand its economic base.
