SECP registered around 2600 new companies in March 2023

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In March 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered nearly 2,600 new companies.

This represents a 10% increase over the previous year’s corresponding month. The total number of registered businesses is now 190,161. For the current month, the total capitalization (paid-up capital) of newly incorporated companies was Rs. 1.8 billion.

Approximately 58 percent of businesses were registered as private limited companies, while 39 percent were registered as sole proprietorships. Approximately 3% were public unlisted companies, not-for-profit associations, and limited liability partnerships (LLP). Almost 99.69% of businesses were registered online. 159 foreign users from other countries have registered.

The information technology sector led the way with 397 new companies, followed by real estate development & construction (385), trading (339), services (282) education (121), tourism (106), food & beverages (96), e-commerce (74), marketing & advertisement (72), textile (62), corporate agricultural farming (51), engineering (49), mining & quarrying (48), healthcare (44), pharmaceutical (39) and power generation (37)

As a result of SECP’s integration with FBR and various provincial departments, 2,496 companies were registered with FBR for NTN generation, 71 with EOBI, 62 with PESSI/SESSI, and 51 with the excise and taxation department.

Foreign investors from Afghanistan, China, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Korea South, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, UAE, UK, and US have been reported in 89 new companies. China received the most investment, with 47 companies, Nigeria received five, Germany and the Philippines received four, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States each received three, Afghanistan, Egypt, and South Korea each received two, and other countries invested in 11 companies.

The SECP also has a dedicated WhatsApp facility for instant resolution of queries about name availability and the incorporation process, and this month, approximately 1,254 queries were answered with a satisfaction rate of 95%.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
