Pakistan’s cricket squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 is taking shape ahead of the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Sources say pace bowler Haris Rauf is likely to be left out of the final 15-member squad.

Rauf last played for Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India, where he conceded 50 runs in 3.4 overs without taking a wicket. Pakistan lost that match while defending 147 runs, prompting concerns over his form.

Currently, Rauf is playing in Australia’s Big Bash League for the Melbourne Stars, adding to questions about his readiness for the T20 World Cup 2026. Coach Mike Hesson is reportedly not in favor of including him in the squad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a preliminary list of players to the ICC. However, the final squad can still be changed until January 31 without ICC approval. Probable selections include captain Salman Ali Agha, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan, and Abrar Ahmed.

Other potential picks are Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Salman Mirza, and Khawaja Nafay. Reserve players may include Abdul Samad, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Usman Tariq.

Pakistan has been drawn in Group A alongside India, the USA, the Netherlands, and Namibia. All group-stage matches will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Pakistan will open its campaign against the Netherlands on February 7, face the USA on February 10, clash with India on February 15, and play Namibia on February 18.

Super Eight matches will be held in Colombo and Kandy, where Pakistan will aim to advance to the knockout stages. The Men in Green hope to improve on past performances and make a strong impact in the T20 World Cup 2026. See the full details of Haris Rauf’s ban in ICC Bans Haris Rauf for Two South Africa ODIs.

Fans are closely watching the final squad announcement, as decisions on key players like Haris Rauf could influence Pakistan’s chances in the tournament. The team management continues to monitor player form and fitness ahead of the global event.
