Pakistan recorded its first victory in the ongoing U19 World Cup 2026 after defeating Scotland by six wickets at Taka Shinga Sports Club, Highfield.
Chasing 188, Pakistan got off to a steady start. Openers Sameer Minhas and Ali Hassan Baloch built a solid partnership, putting the team in a strong position.
Ali Hassan was dismissed for 15 by Ollie Jones, breaking the stand at 43-1 in 9.4 overs. Sameer Minhas followed soon after, scoring 28 before bowling in the 12th over.
Usman Khan and Ahmed Hussain then stabilized the innings. Their 111-run partnership pushed Pakistan past the 100-run mark, easing pressure on the middle order.
Usman Khan played brilliant innings of 75 off 85 balls, hitting five boundaries and two sixes. His efforts guided Pakistan close to the target before he was dismissed by Manu Saraswat.
Ahmed Hussain added 47 runs off 92 balls before falling, leaving the team in a strong position. Skipper Farhan Yousaf finished the chase, scoring an unbeaten 18 to secure the win. Huzaifa Ahsan remained not out on nine.
Earlier, Scotland was asked to bat first but lost early wickets to Ali Raza. Both openers fell in the opening over, leaving the team 6-2. Captain Thomas Knight and Rory Grant then tried to rebuild with a steady partnership.
Momin Qamar was crucial with the ball, dismissing Grant and Finlay Carter to break Scotland’s momentum. Ali Raza returned to claim key wickets, finishing with figures of 4/37 in 10 overs. Momin Qamar picked up three wickets, while Mohammad Sayyam and Abdul Subhan took one each.
Scotland fought back with a late 50-run partnership between Manu Saraswat and Finlay Jones. However, Pakistan’s bowlers restricted them to 187 all out, giving the green shirts a target they comfortably chased.
