Auto Sector Growth Hits 46% in First Half of Fiscal Year

Pakistan’s auto sector recorded impressive growth during the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). Overall vehicle sales rose by 46 percent, signaling a recovery in the industry.

The report stated that total vehicle sales increased to 88,322 units from July to December, compared to the same period last year. Jeep and pickup sales rose by 58 percent, reaching 22,412 units. Truck sales showed the highest growth, jumping 106 percent to 3,071 units, while bus sales increased by 52 percent to 461 units.

Sales of motorcycles and rickshaws also rose significantly, growing 33 percent to 921,566 units during the six-month period.

Auto sector expert Mashhood Khan said the figures reflect a strong recovery for the industry. He credited the growth to the stability of the rupee and declining interest rates, which boosted consumer confidence and purchasing power.

However, the report highlighted a decline in tractor sales, which fell by 26 percent to 12,929 units in the first half of the fiscal year. Despite this, analysts remain optimistic that the auto sector will maintain its momentum in the coming months.

Experts said improving economic indicators and easier financial conditions will continue to support growth. The rising sales across most vehicle categories indicate renewed consumer demand and confidence in the market.

PAMA’s report underscores the resilience of Pakistan’s auto sector, which is recovering despite challenges in certain segments. The overall trend suggests a promising outlook for manufacturers, consumers, and the broader economy.
