A devastating cylinder explosion struck a residential house in Islamabad’s Sector G-7/2 during a wedding celebration, claiming six lives, including those of the bride and groom. The heartbreaking incident occurred late at night between Saturday and Sunday, abruptly turning a moment of joy into an unimaginable tragedy for the families involved.
Police officials stated that the explosion took place at a house located on Street No. 23 in the G-7/2 quarters. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jawad Tariq confirmed that the blast was extremely powerful, causing structural damage not only to the affected house but also to at least four nearby residences. The intensity of the explosion left the area in chaos, with debris scattered across the surroundings.
Rescue and emergency teams were rushed to the scene immediately after the incident. According to officials, more than a dozen people were pulled out alive from the rubble. However, six individuals lost their lives in the explosion, while nine others sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. Authorities later confirmed that one of the critically injured victims did not survive, bringing the total death toll to six.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADC) Islamabad, Sahibzada Yousaf, arrived at the site on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner to oversee rescue operations. He stated that emergency response efforts continued until all trapped individuals were safely recovered. The ADC emphasized that the precise cause of the explosion would be determined only after the completion of rescue and initial investigation procedures.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of celebration moments before the blast, saying the house was filled with wedding guests when the cylinder suddenly exploded without any warning. The powerful explosion caused panic across the neighborhood and damaged surrounding homes.

Officials confirmed that the victims included the newlywed couple, making the incident particularly tragic. Authorities added that all injured individuals are receiving medical care, while further investigations are underway to establish the cause of the explosion.
