CHAKWAL – A horrific road accident took place early Sunday morning when a Lahore-bound passenger bus lost control and plunged into a ravine near Dhok Sial on the Chakwal Motorway, resulting in the deaths of eight passengers and injuries to 24 others.

The bus, which was traveling from Islamabad to Lahore, reportedly veered off the road at high speed and fell into a deep gorge. Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as harrowing, with many passengers trapped inside the damaged vehicle and others calling for help.

Emergency response teams from Rescue 1122 arrived promptly and began pulling out victims from the wreckage. The injured were quickly transported to Kallar Kahar Trauma Center and the District Headquarters Hospital in Chakwal for urgent medical care. Hospital sources confirmed that several victims are in critical condition due to severe injuries.

Preliminary findings by the Motorway Police indicate that the crash was likely caused by overspeeding and driver negligence. According to officials, the bus lost control while navigating a sharp curve, which led to its fatal plunge into the ravine.

This incident highlights the increasing number of serious road accidents in Punjab, many of which are attributed to reckless driving, speeding, and poor enforcement of traffic laws. In response, authorities are urging transport companies to take stronger safety measures and to provide better training for their drivers.

A full-scale investigation into the incident has been launched. Officials are examining technical and human factors involved in the crash and are expected to share additional findings as the inquiry progresses.
