The government has allocated over 3 billion rupees to enhance Karachi’s security through the Karachi Safe City project, which aims to use advanced technology to reduce crime and improve law and order. Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar highlighted the importance of swift implementation, directing that the project’s first phase be completed within 12 months. “The Safe City project is crucial for making Karachi safer, and we expect a decline in crime rates as it progresses,” Lanjar stated.

The project includes installing high-definition surveillance cameras at strategic locations, connected to a central command center for real-time monitoring and quick response. It will also incorporate advanced traffic management systems and facial recognition technology to further enhance security. The first phase will focus on high-crime areas and major public spaces, while the second phase will aim for comprehensive city coverage. Following successful implementation in Karachi, the project will extend to other major cities in Sindh.
