Nineteen people were killed and six injured when a bus crashed on a highway in Mexico’s Zacatecas state early Saturday, according to local officials.
The accident happened when the bus collided with a corn-loaded tractor-trailer, which had detached. Initial reports from Zacatecas Governor David Monreal listed 24 fatalities, but the state attorney general’s office later revised the count.

Authorities, still investigating, aim to arrest the tractor-trailer driver. Recovery efforts continued into the morning as some bodies had fallen into a nearby ravine, a local official told Reuters.
Images shared on social media showed rescue teams and security personnel, including military forces, working at the scene. The bus was en route to Ciudad Juarez near the U.S. border, and no migrants were among the victims, confirmed the attorney general’s office.
