Dismissing concerns about an unfair electoral environment, PPP Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari asserted on Sunday that not only is the current situation conducive to general elections in Pakistan, but it is also progressing towards transparent polls. Expressing unwavering trust in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure fair elections, the former president insisted that the PPP is the sole party capable of competing in various electoral conditions.
While several mainstream parties, including the PML-N, have voiced dissatisfaction with the perceived lack of a level playing field, Zardari expressed confidence and optimism in the ECP’s ability to conduct transparent elections in February 2024. This marks a shift in the PPP’s stance, which had previously joined other parties in raising similar concerns.

Zardari reiterated his belief in the ECP’s integrity and his party’s readiness to secure victory in the polls. He stated, “The country is moving towards transparent elections, and the PPP is fully prepared for it,” expressing full confidence in the election commission’s capability to oversee a transparent election. According to Zardari, the PPP stands out as the only party with the competence to participate in elections under diverse circumstances.
Anticipating that the PPP will emerge as the leading party on the scheduled election day of February 8, Zardari emphasized the current favorable electoral conditions in the country, asserting that elections should proceed as planned.
