A few hours after the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed by parliament, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zain Qureshi released a video addressing rumors surrounding his disappearance and alleged disloyalty to the party. The video came in response to widespread speculation, as some reports claimed that he was expected to attend the National Assembly during the controversial vote that PTI had consistently opposed.

In his video statement, Zain Qureshi dismissed these claims, clarifying that there was no government pressure on him. He explained that he had gone into hiding following instructions from his father, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, a senior PTI leader currently imprisoned. Zain emphasized that he never considered supporting the constitutional amendment and labeled the rumors against him as “baseless propaganda.”

Zain also stated that his father had called him to Lahore and firmly opposed the amendment, instructing his son to steer clear of the legislation. Zain reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and its founder, Imran Khan, and declared that he would leave politics if proven to have met with any government officials. He reiterated his commitment to the PTI’s policies and leadership.

Zain’s sister, Meher Bano Qureshi, had earlier expressed concern about his disappearance in a post on X (formerly Twitter). She feared that her brother might have been abducted after losing contact with him on October 16.

Meher Bano explained that the family initially believed Zain was following their father’s instructions to go underground but grew worried when rumors of his whereabouts spread, and he failed to contact anyone. She highlighted the ongoing pressures faced by their family over the past year due to their political stance.
