YouTube will soon have AI-powered dubbing.

According to Amjad Hanif, VP of Product Management at YouTube, the company has already tested AI-powered dubbing in a few languages, including English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with “more to come.”

Did you realise that only about 52% of all YouTube material is created in English? This means that nearly half of the platform’s material is inaccessible to non-English speakers, while the other half is inaccessible to people who only understand English; doesn’t this create a divide? Both YouTube viewers and creators are at a loss.

YouTube knows this issue, which is why the platform is planning to unveil a fascinating new tool that will fix this issue once and for all, and, like practically all of the most recent mind-blowing features, it will be powered by artificial intelligence.

The solution is being developed in partnership with Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing service that enables automatic transcription of content that may subsequently be dubbed.

Amjad Hanif, Vice President of Product Management at YouTube Creators, stated that the site has already tested the AI dubbing capability with a few languages, including English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and that “more is on the way.”

He went on to say that YouTube is “working to make translated audio tracks sound like the creator’s voice, with more expression and lip sync.”

Once this feature is officially introduced, YouTube creators who create material in less-explored languages may see a tremendous increase in views and subscribers as their content gains worldwide exposure.

What appears to be a little AI-powered function could play a significant role in bringing people of different countries and languages closer together by improving their understanding of cultures, lives, and values.
