This April marks the 20th anniversary of YouTube, the platform that began with co-founder Jawed Karim’s iconic video, Me at the Zoo, uploaded in 2005. Now a giant in the entertainment, music, and technology sectors, YouTube has transformed from a simple video-sharing site into a global powerhouse, reshaping how people consume and interact with digital content.
In celebration of this milestone, YouTube shared a wealth of impressive statistics. Every day, over 20 million videos are uploaded, and users posted an average of 100 million comments per day in 2024. Creators also play a key role in engaging audiences, giving hearts to comments from around 10 million users daily. In total, videos on YouTube received more than 3.5 billion likes daily last year.

YouTube’s influence on music is also undeniable, with over 300 music videos crossing the billion-view mark. The platform also celebrated the 10th anniversaries of YouTube Music and YouTube Kids. Before its official launch, YouTube Music operated under the codename “Woodstock.”
Looking forward, YouTube plans to incorporate more AI-driven features across its platform and expand its Premium subscriptions, aiming to support and reward the global creator community. As YouTube enters its third decade, it remains a central hub for discovering and enjoying digital content across all devices.
