Lahore Braces for Major Traffic Disruptions as Young Doctors Announce City-Wide Protest

Lahore is expected to experience severe traffic disruptions starting Friday, as the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab, supported by the Grand Health Alliance (GHA), begins a city-wide protest against the privatization of public hospitals in the province.

  • Route to Mayo Hospital
  • Access roads to Shaikh Zayed Hospital
  • Road leading to Jinnah Hospital
  • Sir Ganga Ram Hospital approach

Dr. Niazi emphasized that all types of vehicular traffic will be blocked, leading to widespread traffic jams and serious inconvenience for commuters and emergency services.

Doctors Demand Reversal of Hospital Outsourcing Plan

The YDA has been protesting for over 18 consecutive days against the Punjab government’s decision to outsource public hospitals. With little response from authorities, the association is now implementing what it calls “Plan B”—disrupting urban mobility to draw attention to their demands.

Dr. Niazi also warned that any police intervention or force will trigger a complete shutdown of government hospitals across the province, bringing medical services to a halt.

Public Advisory

Lahore residents are advised to:

  • Avoid traveling through affected roads, especially during peak hours.
  • Use alternative routes or public transportation where available.
  • Stay updated via local traffic authorities and social media platforms.
