State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad has clarified that newly designed currency notes will not be available before the upcoming Eid.
He explained that preparations for issuing the redesigned banknotes are still incomplete and depend entirely on approval from the federal cabinet.
According to the governor, the printing process for new notes can only begin after cabinet clearance is formally granted.
Due to this pending approval, the redesigned currency notes will not reach the public or enter circulation before Eid.
Jameel Ahmad also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a strict monetary policy under its ongoing agreement with the IMF.
He added that Pakistan has already paid six billion dollars in external debt and interest obligations, reflecting continued financial discipline.
