Will Multan Sultans Change their Name Ahead of PSL 2026?

The Multan Sultans franchise is reportedly set for a major rebranding ahead of the Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 11), following owner Ali Tareen’s decision not to renew his contract with the league, according to sources.

Tareen’s departure has placed the franchise up for sale, with its latest estimated valuation at Rs. 140 crore. Reports suggest the decision stems from disagreements with PSL organizers, with Tareen citing what he described as “poor management” of the tournament.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Tareen reflected on his time with the Sultans, calling it “one of the greatest honors of my life,” and thanked supporters while emphasizing the pride of representing South Punjab nationally.

With the franchise now open to new ownership, investors have the opportunity to acquire it ahead of the next PSL season. All other teams, including Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators, have already renewed their league contracts.

PSL 2026 is also set to expand with two new teams in Gilgit and Faisalabad, further strengthening the league’s presence across Pakistan.
