Can Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan Return for South Africa Series?

Despite Pakistan’s disappointing run in the Asia Cup 2025, the selection committee has decided to retain full faith in T20 captain Salman Ali Agha.

Sources indicate that white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and skipper Salman Ali Agha recently held discussions focused on the upcoming South Africa series and long-term plans for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Both agreed that maintaining stability is crucial ahead of the global event and ruled out any major leadership or squad changes before the tournament.

Salman will continue leading the side in the T20 series against South Africa, while Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are not expected to make a comeback to the T20 lineup.

A key meeting between the team management and the selection committee is scheduled soon to finalize the squad and strategy.

Reports further suggest that the PCB, team management, and the captain share a unified stance — Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan currently do not fit into the team’s T20 plans.
