Widespread Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Pakistan

The Met Office has forecast that a westerly weather system will enter southwestern Balochistan on April 1 and continue affecting the region until April 4, bringing widespread rain, wind, and thunderstorms across multiple parts of Pakistan.

In Balochistan, areas including Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, the Makran coastal belt (Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara), Lasbella, Khuzdar, Kharan, Chaghi, Dalbandin, Kalat, Sibbi, Kohlu, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Quetta, Loralai, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Mastung, and surrounding regions are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms, with chances of heavy downpours and isolated hailstorms from the evening of April 1 to April 4.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are predicted from the night of April 1 through April 4, with snowfall likely in mountainous areas such as Chitral, Swat, Dir, and Kalam. Some locations may also experience heavy rainfall or hailstorms.

For Punjab and Islamabad, rain and thunderstorms with occasional hail are expected in cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, and others during the same period. Heavier rainfall is particularly likely in Dera Ghazi Khan and nearby areas.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in higher altitudes are expected between April 1 and 4, with isolated heavy showers and possible hailstorms in parts of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Tharparkar, is likely to receive rain and thunderstorms from April 2 to April 4, with occasional gaps and chances of hail in some areas.
