Social media platform WhatsApp is testing a new feature aimed at making profiles more personal by allowing users to add a wide cover photo. This addition gives profiles a unique, customized look without affecting the existing profile picture or other account details.
According to WABetaInfo, adding a cover photo will be straightforward. Users can select an image from their gallery, reposition it, change it, or remove it at any time. Similar to settings for “Last Seen,” “Profile Photo,” and “About,” WhatsApp will let users control who can view their cover photo. While still in development, the feature is expected to roll out to iOS users in future updates.
In addition to the cover photo, WhatsApp is enhancing username privacy. Currently, anyone can search for a username globally and send a message. The upcoming update will require users to enter a special code associated with a username before contacting that person, adding an extra layer of control.
