Whatsapp to Introduce Messages Limit? Check Full Details

Meta-owned WhatsApp is introducing new measures to curb spam by restricting how many messages users and businesses can send to people who haven’t replied. The step aims to reduce message overload as the app has expanded beyond personal chats to include groups, communities, and business use.

According to WhatsApp, messages sent to new or unresponsive contacts will now count toward a monthly quota unless the recipient replies. Although the company hasn’t disclosed the exact limit, it is currently testing various thresholds. Users nearing the cap will receive on-screen alerts showing their remaining message count to help them avoid restrictions.

WhatsApp emphasized that regular users are unlikely to be affected, as the update mainly targets spam and bulk messaging from businesses.

This move follows previous anti-spam initiatives, such as marketing message caps and unsubscribe options introduced earlier this year. In early 2025, the platform also began testing limits on broadcast messages. The new policy will soon expand to several countries, including India, WhatsApp’s largest market with over 500 million users.
