Users in major cities like Karachi and Lahore reported problems with mobile internet services as well. In August, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) indicated that internet speeds would remain slow until early October due to faults in two of the seven international submarine cables (SMW4 and AAE-1) connecting Pakistan globally. The PTA noted that repairs on the SMW-4 cable are expected to be completed by early October, which should improve internet connectivity, while AAE-1 has already been repaired.
