[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]WhatsApp has unveiled its latest feature, screen sharing, aimed at enhancing the video-calling experience on its platform. This move puts WhatsApp in direct competition with established video conferencing apps like Microsoft Meet, Google Meet, Zoom, and Apple’s FaceTime.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, which owns WhatsApp, announced the new feature through a Facebook post and Instagram. This addition allows users to share documents, photos, and even shopping carts during video calls.
Initially released for select beta testers on Android in May, screen sharing on WhatsApp involves tapping the “Share” icon and selecting a specific app or the entire screen, similar to popular video-conferencing platforms.

WhatsApp has confirmed that the screen-sharing feature is gradually rolling out on Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop. The update will be available to users in phases.
In addition to screen sharing, WhatsApp has introduced landscape mode for video calls to provide a wider and more immersive viewing experience. This mode complements the screen-sharing feature, enhancing the overall video-calling experience.
Video calling has been a part of WhatsApp since 2016, and the platform continues to evolve to stay competitive. Recent improvements include picture-in-picture support for iOS users and the ability to share short video messages in chats.
While screen sharing has been a staple in video-conferencing apps, WhatsApp’s decision to extend this feature to multiple platforms underscores its commitment to enhancing communication options for its users.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
