The West Indies cricket team has announced its 15-player squad for the historic two-Test tour of Pakistan in January 2025, marking the Caribbean side’s first red-ball series in Pakistan in 18 years. The squad features fresh faces and notable returns as they aim to finish the World Test Championship cycle strong, despite currently occupying the last place in the WTC standings.
Key Highlights of the Squad:
- Amir Jangoo Headlines Test Squad: The standout performer from the recent ODI series against Bangladesh, Amir Jangoo, has earned his maiden Test call-up. The 27-year-old batter impressed with a scintillating 104* off just 83 balls on his ODI debut in St. Kitts, establishing himself as one of the region’s rising stars.
- Spin Boost with Motie’s Return: Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, who missed the recent series against Bangladesh due to injury, has been recalled to strengthen the West Indies’ bowling attack, particularly in spin-friendly conditions expected in Pakistan.
However, the squad will be without Shamar Joseph, who remains sidelined with an injury, and Alzarri Joseph, who was unavailable for selection.
