Week-long school holidays anticipated!

Eid al-Fitr 2025 is expected to grant an extended holiday period for students across Punjab, with the break likely spanning from March 29 to April 6, 2025.

The announcement came following insights from the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, which confirmed that the crescent moon would be visible across most parts of Pakistan on the evening of March 30, suggesting that Eid al-Fitr would likely fall on March 31.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was scheduled to convene on Ramadan 29, corresponding to Sunday, March 30, to officially sight the moon. The duration of the holiday break for students would ultimately depend on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

As per standard practice, the provincial government typically declares a three-day holiday period, aligning with the federal government’s Eid holiday schedule. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 30, the holidays would extend for five days, from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, incorporating the preceding weekend.

Conversely, if the Shawwal moon remains unseen on March 30, Ramadan would complete 30 days, shifting the Eid holidays to begin on April 1 and end on April 3.

In this scenario, considering the possible holiday on Monday, March 31, the total break for students could be extended to six days.
