On August 13, the Panoptikum museum in Hamburg, Germany, unveiled new wax figures of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, which sparked a mix of reactions from fans on social media. Some fans were taken aback by the likenesses, with one user commenting on X (formerly Twitter), “They look so off I’m crying.” Another quipped, “When your mum says you have Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift at home.”

Critics highlighted specific features, such as Ed Sheeran’s figure, with one user remarking, “Ed looks like his legs don’t work like they used to.” Taylor Swift’s wax figure also faced backlash, with a fan stating, “Omg, they did her so dirty.”

Despite the criticism, not all feedback was negative. Some fans praised the figures, with one saying, “Honestly, really good renditions! Taylor’s looks great!” Another added, “I bet the figures are super realistic and a must-see for any Swifties or Sheerios visiting the museum.”

The Panoptikum, the oldest wax museum in Germany, expressed excitement about adding these two figures. In a translated press release, the museum stated, “With the wax figure of Taylor Swift, we are welcoming an absolute superstar to the Panoptikum.” Dr. Susanne Faerber, the Managing Director, remarked, “August 13 is a truly lucky day for our wax museum—especially since the number 13 holds great significance for Taylor Swift and her countless fans.”

Ed Sheeran’s figure is particularly special for the museum as it was the first wax figure created by sculptor Lisa Büscher and her team. They dedicated two years to crafting the sculpture, with Büscher noting the challenges posed by Sheeran’s intricate tattoos.
