Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram expressed optimism on Thursday that India will visit Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for next February. Akram, renowned as the “Sultan of Swing,” stated, “The entire Pakistan is waiting to welcome India. Hopefully, India will visit Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy.”
He emphasized that Pakistan is preparing well for the tournament. “The facilities here in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy are good, and the stadiums are being revamped. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has started the process of developing the stadiums for the mega event.” Akram believes the tournament will be significant for Pakistan. “I feel that this will be a massive tournament and turn out to be quite vital for Pakistan for the betterment of the country.”

He also stressed the importance of separating politics from cricket. “I am confident that all the teams will visit Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy. I would like to say to all the teams, fans, and media that the facilities here are excellent. Come and see for yourselves,” Akram maintained. The former cricketer’s remarks come amidst heightened anticipation for the event and hope for improved relations between cricketing nations.
