With a career spanning nearly four decades, Waseem Abbas has become a respected figure in the industry, known for his roles in popular dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Mere Humsafar, Ashiyana, Din, Family Front, Landa Bazar, and Prem Gali. In a recent interview, Abbas addressed Firdous Jamal’s critical comments about Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan. He expressed his belief that it’s inappropriate to judge actors based on their age. “We have no right to comment on others regarding age; it’s all about public acceptance. For me, age doesn’t matter. Mahira Khan looks beautiful, as she did in her last appearance in Maula Jatt. We should acknowledge that,” Abbas stated. He added that seniors in the industry should be cautious when sharing their opinions about their peers. “You can critique an actor’s performance, but criticizing them for their age is below the belt,” he said.
Speaking about Humayun Saeed, Abbas highlighted Saeed’s commercial success and his ability to attract audiences. “Humayun has a huge fan following and is a big star. Yet, Firdous Jamal criticizes him, asking if he is Marlon Brando. Yes, he is the Marlon Brando of Pakistan. Such criticism is unnecessary and uncalled for. We also condemned his previous statements. Actors like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are in their mid-50s and continue to work because people still love them,” Abbas concluded.
