Virginia Woman Defies Odds With Second $100K Lottery Win

A Virginia woman has stunned lottery officials and the public alike by winning her second $100,000 (Rs28 million) prize—this time from the March 31 Powerball drawing, more than a decade after her first major jackpot.

Sharon Godsey of Concord matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball, a feat that typically earns a $50,000 prize. But thanks to her decision to opt for the Power Play feature, her winnings doubled to $100,000 when the 2X multiplier was drawn.

Overwhelmed by the realization, Godsey said she “just hit the floor” after confirming her win. She bought the lucky ticket at Carson Market on Village Highway in Concord, now the site of her latest stroke of lottery fortune.

Remarkably, this isn’t Godsey’s first brush with luck—back in 2013, she also claimed $100,000 from a Sapphire Riches scratch-off ticket. While the odds of a single win are already steep, winning twice makes her story even more extraordinary.

With the Virginia Lottery continuing to fund public education and players like Godsey defying astronomical odds, her story serves as a reminder that lightning really can strike twice.
