Virat Kohli Acknowledges Wife Anushka Sharma's Role in World Cup Triumph

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli recently attributed India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to his wife, Anushka Sharma, emphasizing her crucial role in his success. Following his decision to retire from T20I cricket after the historic win, Kohli took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message alongside a celebratory photo with Anushka. He expressed profound gratitude, stating, “None of this would remotely be possible without you, my love. You keep me humble, grounded, and always tell it like it is with absolute honesty.”

Further underscoring Anushka’s impact, Kohli added, “I couldn’t be more grateful for you. This victory is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you and I love you for being YOU.”

India secured their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in a gripping final, clinching victory by seven runs. Their maiden triumph came in 2007 against Pakistan in the inaugural T20 World Cup final.

South Africa faced early setbacks in their chase, losing Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram early on. However, a resilient 68-run partnership between Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs put them back in contention. Heinrich Klaasen’s aggressive 22-run over against Axar Patel seemed to shift momentum in South Africa’s favor.

Ultimately, South Africa concluded their innings at 169-8. India’s bowling attack was led by Pandya, who took three crucial wickets, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Bumrah with two each, and Patel with one wicket.

Kohli’s stellar batting performance earlier in the match, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls with six fours and two sixes, laid a solid foundation for India’s total and was pivotal to their victory.
