Saleh Al-Jafarawi, the Gazan journalist celebrated for spreading joy among children amid the war’s devastation, was killed on Sunday during clashes in Gaza. Reports indicate that militia groups allegedly supported by Israel were involved in the attack. His death triggered a wave of grief and tributes across social media from Palestine and around the world.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who heads Pakistan’s delegation on the Global Sumud Flotilla, confirmed the news on X, stating that “a militia collaborating with Israel has silenced another Gazan voice forever.”
Indian journalist Mohammed Zubair shared one of Al-Jafarawi’s viral videos—showing him comforting a baby who survived Israeli strikes—while holding Israel responsible for his killing. Al Jazeera producer Laila Al-Arian and author Remi Kanazi also mourned his loss, praising his empathy and bravery.
Actor Zara Tareen said the struggle had become one for “humanity itself,” while musician Nemahsis questioned how such killings persist if “the genocide was truly over.” Others, including Hind Khoudary and Mohamed Hadid, shared heartfelt tributes, calling his death a painful reminder of Gaza’s fragile hope.
