[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Actress Ushna Shah has expanded on her tweet about late actor Qavi Khan not receiving any lifetime achievement awards from the television industry prior to his dying. The Habs star remembers being heartbroken to learn that he was expected to be recognised by those he worked with, and hoped that her peers would do better.
“Sigh! “I can’t believe I have to break this down,” Shah posted on Instagram. She began by emphasising that she had tweeted about honours handed by private TV stations, not civil prizes presented by the government of Pakistan on an annual basis. “The drama industry, as well as the prizes,” she observed.
“And it did not give the life-time achievement award that he was heartbreakingly expecting. Qassim Mureed, Mussadiq Malik, and a few others know of this expectation. And it broke my heart to hear of it too,” added Shah. The Parizaad actor acknowledged that while Khan “lives on as the greatest and nothing can change that, the last drama industry award he received was when Feroze [Khan] brought him up on stage and shared his award (I might be mistaken).”
Shah clarified that she is not making “a dig at anyone or any establishment.” But when she learned that he had hoped for the same thing before his death while speaking to a coworker, it broke her heart and prompted her to tweet about it. “I tweeted because I adore him,” she explained. “I questioned us, the present, standing, private theatrical industry and all the award shows that come with it, and encouraged us to do better. It’s a regrettable oversight, and we can only solve it in the future if we recognise it.”
To conclude, she asked, “What is so terrible about this?”
“I have a question for the Pakistani theatre industry: How many lifetime achievement awards did Qavi sahab earn before he passed?” Shah had previously tweeted. I’d like to pose a question to the audience: how many did he deserve? Gentleman, please accept our condolences.”

“Qavi sahab has (rightfully) won many national, civilian awards,” she said in a follow-up tweet. I questioned a colleague in the drama industry, which is now privatised. While our legends are here, let us shower them with flowers. We can always do better as an industry, and I am no exception.”
To this, actor Rabya Kulsoom commented in a now, unavailable tweet, “Factcheck: Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance, Nigar Awards and PTV Award. [He received] millions of nominations and other recognitions. He was a legend and thankfully, he was respected and treated like a legend always on and off the sets.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
