USA Cancels All Visa Appointments These Cities

The United States has suspended all visa appointments at its Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General in Lahore and Karachi through Friday, March 6, citing ongoing security concerns. The decision affects both routine and emergency visa services across the three diplomatic missions.

In an updated advisory, U.S. authorities confirmed that no visa appointments will be conducted for the remainder of the week. Officials did not provide details regarding when regular operations would resume, emphasizing that safety precautions remain the top priority.

Earlier, the U.S. Consulate General in Peshawar temporarily suspended operations starting March 2. Disruptions in Karachi and Lahore, including traffic diversions around diplomatic premises, led to the cancellation of appointments scheduled for March 3.

Government personnel across Pakistan have been instructed to limit their movements as a precautionary measure. U.S. authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to determine when normal operations can safely resume.

Previously, U.S. citizens in Pakistan were advised to remain vigilant by monitoring local news, avoiding large gatherings, and staying aware of their surroundings. Travelers were also encouraged to ensure their registration with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is up to date for timely security notifications.

The suspension of visa services comes amid heightened regional security concerns, which have prompted similar temporary measures across several U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide. Citizens planning travel or visa appointments are urged to follow official updates and remain in contact with U.S. authorities for further guidance.
