Despite plans for an emotional reunion, prison authorities refused, claiming the loss of keys to the meeting room.
Aafia’s sister, accompanied by JUI leader Talha Mahmood and lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, was turned away from Carswell federal prison. Senator Mushtaq Ahmad criticized the prison’s “comical” excuse, denouncing the “inhumane” behavior of jail officials.

Dr Aafia Siddiqui, accused of terrorism, is serving an 86-year sentence in Fort Worth, Texas, for attempting to shoot US soldiers in Afghanistan in 2010.
