The U.S. military conducted airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Somalia on Saturday, as announced by President Donald Trump.
“Today, I authorized precision airstrikes targeting the ISIS Senior Attack Planner and other terrorists he led in Somalia,” Trump stated on Truth Social.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the strikes focused on IS-Somalia operatives in the Golis Mountains, located in the semi-autonomous Puntland region.
“Our initial assessment indicates multiple operatives were killed, with no civilian casualties,” Hegseth added, emphasizing that this operation further undermines ISIS’s capacity to plan and execute attacks against U.S. citizens.
