The United States has praised the recent Pakistan–India ceasefire as a significant achievement in diplomacy. The move helped ease tensions between the two neighboring countries during a critical conflict.
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce highlighted the quick response by US leaders. She said their immediate actions helped prevent a possible escalation that could have turned disastrous.
“There was swift engagement by the Vice President, the President, and the Secretary of State to stop the attacks,” Bruce said during a press briefing. She described the Pakistan–India ceasefire as a clear example of successful US diplomatic efforts.
Bruce also noted that Washington maintains good relations with both Pakistan and India. She credited Secretary of State Marco Rubio for promoting open communication with both governments. According to Bruce, the US continues to work closely with both countries, especially on counter-terrorism issues.
The statement came shortly after the latest Pakistan–US Counterterrorism Dialogue in Islamabad. This dialogue focused on joint efforts to combat terrorist groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Daesh-Khorasan, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
During the talks, the US praised Pakistan for its successes against terrorism. They also expressed condolences over recent attacks, including the Khuzdar school bus bombing and the Jaffar Express train attack.
Both sides agreed on the need to improve strategies and build stronger institutions to fight evolving threats. They also discussed ways to address the misuse of new technologies by terrorist groups.
Bruce said US cooperation with Pakistan and India is positive for the entire region. She hopes this collaboration will promote peace and stability for all parties involved.
The Pakistan–India ceasefire remains a hopeful sign of improving relations and successful diplomacy in South Asia.
