US Delegation Applauds Pakistan’s Efforts in Security and Bilateral Cooperation

A high-level US congressional delegation, led by Congressman Jack Bergman, praised Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and emphasized the country’s strategic importance during a series of meetings with top civil and military leaders. The delegation also included lawmakers Thomas Souzzi and Jonathan Jackson.

In a key meeting with Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, discussions focused on defence cooperation and regional security. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained engagement and signed MoUs for training collaboration in information technology. The US lawmakers acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces’ critical role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also met with the delegation, underscored Pakistan’s unmatched sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. He emphasized the need for intelligence and technology sharing and welcomed greater US cooperation in economic and investment sectors.

The visit, which marks the first of its kind since President Trump assumed office, also included meetings with Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Discussions centered on enhancing ties in trade, development, and climate resilience. The delegation will also travel to Muzaffarabad to receive a briefing on the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
