Wafaqi Mohtasib, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, responded promptly to complaints regarding irregularities, malpractices, and prolonged delays, along with the dissatisfaction of the general public with the facilities provided at Passport Offices. This directive emphasizes the need for swift action to address these concerns.

In response to numerous complaints about delays in passport issuance, an Inspection Team from the Wafaqi Mohtasib’s office had previously visited the Passport Office in Islamabad. This visit was initiated to investigate the reasons behind the delays and the breakdown of efficient service delivery. However, the Compliance Report submitted by the Passport Office in response was deemed unsatisfactory and lacking in substance by the Wafaqi Mohtasib, prompting the necessity for another inspection.
The Wafaqi Mohtasib has highlighted the severe impact of these delays on Overseas Pakistanis, emphasizing that many faced issues such as expired visas or the inability to join jobs abroad due to the protracted passport issuance process. Additionally, individuals intending to travel abroad for higher education or family visits have encountered similar difficulties.
The official stressed the need to expose and take strict action against those responsible for creating artificial shortages and engaging in malpractices and irregularities at Passport Offices. This stern approach is deemed essential to ensure the seamless functioning of these offices and to address the concerns of the public.
Complaints regarding delays in passport issuance have surged, particularly in light of the country’s economic conditions prompting more individuals to consider relocation.
