Lahore, the capital city of Punjab, recently experienced severe flooding due to heavy rainfall, leading to significant disruptions across various areas.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported that more than 177 feeders tripped, resulting in widespread power outages throughout the city. The monsoon downpour caused flooding in multiple parts of Lahore, with Tajpura recording the highest rainfall at 242 millimeters. Other heavily affected areas included Lakshmi Chowk (130 mm), Mughalpura (132 mm), Gulshan-e-Ravi (133 mm), Chauk Nakhuda (122 mm), Iqbal Town (128 mm), Qartaba Chowk (125 mm), Samanabad (135 mm), and Airport (71 mm).

The power supply was severely disrupted, with reports of outages from 120 feeders in Lahore, as well as 15 feeders in Kasur and 10 in Nankana circles. Sheikhupura circle faced interruptions from 26 feeders, and Okara circle reported issues with 6 feeders.
Local authorities have mobilized emergency drainage operations to manage water accumulation in affected areas, deploying machinery and personnel to alleviate the situation. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed comprehensive measures to address the impact of the flooding and ensure swift recovery across all districts of Punjab, with a particular focus on Lahore.
Efforts are underway to restore normalcy and assist residents affected by the flooding, underscoring the challenges posed by intense monsoon rains in urban areas like Lahore.
