DG ISPR PRESS BRIEFING – 7 May 2025
- Last night, in the darkness, India carried out an unprovoked and cowardly attack on Pakistan at 6 locations.
- In this blatant act of aggression, Indian forces deliberately targeted civilian areas. As of now, we confirm multiple martyrs and injuries.
Casualties so far:
- 26 innocent civilians have been martyred and 46 injured at 6 targeted locations.
Details of the attacks are as follows:
- Ahmadpur East — Subhan Allah Mosque was targeted:
- 13 people martyred, including 2–3 year-old girls, 7 women, and 4 men.
- 37 injured, including 9 women and 28 men.
- Muzaffarabad — Bilal Mosque was attacked:
- 3 martyred, including women and children.
- Several injured (specific numbers include one woman and one boy).
- Kotli — Abbas Mosque was targeted:
- A 16-year-old boy and an 18-month-old infant were martyred.
- A mother and daughter were injured.
- Mirpur — Al-Qari Mosque was targeted:
- 3 men martyred.
- 1 injured.
- Sialkot — Another area was attacked, but fortunately no casualties or material damage has been reported.
- Shakargarh — Attack caused no loss of life, but some damage to a dispensary.
- Along the Line of Control (LoC), unprovoked artillery shelling and ceasefire violations by India continued throughout the night.
- 5 additional innocent civilians have been martyred in these attacks, including a 5-year-old boy.
Pakistan Armed Forces’ Response:
- Pakistan’s Armed Forces, with full support from the nation, responded swiftly and decisively to this aggression.
- Within moments of India’s attack, our forces retaliated and delivered a befitting response.
It is crucial to note:
India deliberately targeted mosques and places of worship in Pakistan.
This reflects the extremist Hindutva mindset prevailing under Modi’s government, which systematically suppresses minorities, especially Muslims, even within India.
The locations attacked yesterday were previously inspected by both national and international media, who confirmed there were no military installations or any unlawful activities there — only innocent civilians, women, and children were present.
Media teams from Multan, Bahawalpur, and international media had pre-scheduled visits to these locations.
Air Defense Engagement:
- In response to Indian air aggression, Pakistan Air Force shot down:
- 5 Indian fighter aircraft: 3 Rafale, 1 MiG-29, and 1 SU aircraft.
- 1 Israeli-made Heron armed drone.
- These aircraft were shot down only after they had released their weapons over Pakistan territory.
- They crashed in areas of Bathinda, Jammu (Avantipur), Akhnoor, and Srinagar.
“Pakistan Air Force ensured that at no time did any Indian aircraft enter deep into Pakistan’s airspace and at no time did any Pakistani aircraft violate Indian airspace.”
All Pakistani aircraft and assets remain safe and intact, Alhamdulillah.
LoC and Ground Engagements:
- In addition to air defense, Pakistan Army effectively responded along the Line of Control and Working Boundary, destroying multiple Indian military posts.
- A few notable engagements:
- Brigade Headquarters (from where Indian forces initiated shelling).
- Chhatri Post, Chora Post, Shahpur Post, and others were effectively neutralized.
India also targeted the Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Project and Noseri Dam, causing damage to hydro infrastructure and endangering thousands of civilian lives.
At the time, 57 international flights were in Pakistani airspace, and Indian aggression recklessly endangered all of them.
In conclusion:
- This is a developing situation, and we will continue to update as events unfold.
- Pakistan’s response is in self-defense, in line with international law and our sovereign rights.
“India cowardly attacked Pakistan, violating our sovereignty and killing innocent civilians — women, children, and the elderly.”
“Pakistan reserves the right to respond to this aggression at a time, place, and means of our own choosing.”
Pakistan Zindabad. Long live the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
