Every morning in Gaza, Palestinians endure long queues under the scorching sun to fill their bottles and jerrycans with drinking water, stated the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Sunday. According to the agency, many Palestinians must trek long distances while carrying heavy loads in the sweltering summer heat.

“This exhausting routine is a daily reality in Gaza,” the UNRWA emphasized.

In defiance of a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has garnered international condemnation for its relentless offensive on Gaza since an attack by Hamas on October 7. Local health authorities report that nearly 38,600 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, with nearly 88,900 others injured during the nine-month onslaught. Much of Gaza now lies in ruins, compounded by a severe blockade restricting access to food, clean water, and medicine.

Accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, Israel recently faced a court ruling demanding an immediate halt to its military operations in Rafah, a southern city where over 1 million Palestinians sought refuge before Israeli forces entered on May 6.
