Babar Azam’s dip in form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and his cousin Umar Akmal believes a strategic breakcould help him regain his peak. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Umar recommended that Babar take a two-month sabbatical from all formats and relinquish PSL leadership duties to reset mentally and physically.

“Babar is still Pakistan’s top batter. One bad patch can’t erase years of brilliance,” Umar said, adding that the 30-year-old should discuss this break with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi directly. He emphasized spending time with family and training away from the spotlight.

Umar’s comments, rooted in both concern and experience, come as Babar’s struggles persist despite being tried in different roles across formats. He’s not the only one suggesting rest—many believe a break could help Babar rediscover his best version.

With much cricket still ahead, Umar’s advice rings clear: stepping away now could be the key to a stronger comeback
