Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have signed an Air Defence Deal aimed at strengthening military cooperation. The agreement was reached during a recent visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the kingdom.
According to officials, the Air Defence Deal focuses on enhancing Saudi Arabia’s ability to defend against drone attacks. The move comes as Gulf countries face increasing threats from Iranian-designed drones, similar to those used in the ongoing conflict involving Ukraine.
Officials said Ukraine will support Saudi Arabia in developing key components of its air defence system. This includes sharing expertise in intercepting drones and building integrated defence networks. Ukraine has gained experience in countering drone attacks during its conflict with Russia.
The Air Defence Deal goes beyond basic equipment. It includes advanced systems such as electronic jamming tools, anti-aircraft weapons, and data analysis technologies. Officials also highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in improving defence capabilities.
Ukraine has been using a combination of cost-effective interceptors and advanced systems to counter frequent drone attacks. This experience is considered valuable for countries facing similar threats. Ukrainian officials say their defence methods are among the most effective globally.
The agreement may also involve cooperation in exchanging defence technologies. Ukraine is interested in accessing advanced missile systems used by Gulf countries. This exchange could help both sides strengthen their defence capabilities.
President Zelensky confirmed that both countries reached an important agreement on defence cooperation. He also met with Mohammed bin Salman during his visit. The discussions focused on expanding military and technological collaboration.
Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and systems. He added that Saudi Arabia also has capabilities that could benefit Ukraine. The cooperation is expected to be mutually beneficial for both countries.
The agreement comes at a time of rising regional tensions. Recent attacks and counterattacks in the Middle East have increased the need for strong defence systems. Experts say such partnerships could play a key role in improving regional security.
The Air Defence Deal highlights growing global interest in Ukraine’s defence technologies. It also reflects efforts by both countries to adapt to modern security challenges.
