Ukraine Launches Largest Drone Attack on Moscow

Ukraine carried out its largest-ever drone attack on Moscow early Tuesday, killing at least one person, igniting fires, and disrupting air and train travel in the Russian capital. Russian authorities reported that 337 drones were launched overnight, with 91 specifically targeting Moscow and its surrounding region.

Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, confirmed the scale of the attack, marking it as the most extensive drone strike on the city by Ukraine since the conflict began. Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, stated that one person was killed and three others were injured.

In response to the attack, flights were suspended at all four of Moscow’s airports, and two additional airports in the Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod regions were closed. Damage was reported in multiple areas, with seven apartments affected in the Ramenskoye district, southeast of Moscow, and a train station hit in Domodedovo.

Videos of the fires in residential areas circulated on Russian Telegram channels, while officials emphasized that drone debris caused significant damage despite interception attempts.

The strikes coincided with peace talks scheduled between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, aiming to address the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, drone attacks were also reported in the Ryazan and Belgorod regions, further escalating tensions.
