Roshni+ Mobile Health Unit Launched in Lahore by Marie Stopes Society
LAHORE – The Roshni+ Mobile Health Unit, launched by the Marie Stopes Society (MSS), was inaugurated by the Head of the British High Commission’s Lahore Office, Ben Warrington, with support from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
A Fully Equipped Health Unit
The new mobile health unit is designed to provide essential healthcare services, including both long-term and short-term family planning methods, counseling, sugar and pregnancy tests, and outpatient medical services. The unit will travel across Lahore and Kasur districts, focusing on underserved communities, especially women and girls.

Addressing Healthcare Gaps in Rural Areas
The Marie Stopes Society has already deployed 16 mobile health units in rural areas across Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These units aim to bridge the significant healthcare gap in regions lacking adequate medical personnel and facilities.
Commitment to Empower Women and Girls
Ben Warrington expressed the UK’s continued support for empowering women and girls, stating, “The UK remains committed to empowering women and girls through access to modern contraceptives and family planning services. We are dedicated to ensuring women can decide when and how many children they wish to have.”

Asma Balal, Country Director of MSS in Pakistan, emphasized the unit’s significance, saying, “Our new mobile health unit is not just a vehicle; it’s a beacon of our dedication to improving lives and fulfilling our mission.”
Since its establishment in 1991, the Marie Stopes Society, a local non-profit organization, has provided high-quality reproductive health and family planning services. Serving 700,000 clients annually, MSS has reached nearly 8 million couples since 2010, saving the lives of over 7,000 mothers across Pakistan.
