[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended the deadline for registering for the unemployment insurance system from July 1 to October 1, 2023.
Fines will be imposed exclusively on those who fail to register for the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance plan after the revised deadline, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
According to the ministry, nearly 4.6 million people have registered for the insurance scheme. Those who fail to register by the new deadline will be fined AED 400 ($108).
It is important to note that the insurance exclusively covers male federal and private sector employees, including Emiratis and expats.
Employers who own the company, as well as domestic employees, temporary contract workers, pensioners, and those under the age of 18, are exempt from this programme.

The ILOE insurance programme charges a monthly subscription cost of AED 5 for individuals earning less than AED 16,000 and AED 10 for those earning more than AED 16,000. Workers can also sign up for other insurance programmes.
Unregistered employees can register on the ILOE website. A person must have registered with the scheme and paid the monthly fee for at least 12 months in order to be eligible for reimbursement.
They must also file an application for compensation within 30 days of being unemployed if they were not fired for disciplinary reasons, resigned, or the compensation request was not deemed to be fraudulent.
Furthermore, compensation payments cease whenever the individual obtains employment or departs the UAE.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
