UAE Warns Jobseekers of Fake Job and Visa Scams

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has warned job seekers about an increase in fake job offers and visa scams.

The ministry said fraudsters are posing as employers or recruiters, demanding upfront payments for job processing or visas. It stressed that all legitimate UAE job offers are issued directly through MoHRE and must include an official work entry permit.

MoHRE urged applicants to verify job offers via its website under “Application Status Inquiry” and warned that working on a tourist or visit visa is illegal. Employers, not workers, must cover recruitment costs under UAE law.

Job seekers were advised to check employer details through the National Economic Register, verify visas using the GDRFA or ICP eChannels websites, and avoid unlicensed agents. Only licensed airlines, hotels, or travel agencies can issue tourist permits.

The ministry reiterated that residency visas cannot be processed outside the UAE and encouraged the public to report suspicious activity. The warning is part of MoHRE’s “Zero Bureaucracy” initiative, aimed at simplifying government services and protecting workers from fraud while enhancing the UAE’s digital employment systems.
