A group of Turkish immigrants in Pakistan has approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking an order to halt their expulsion, citing delays and procedural concerns. The immigrants, currently residing in Karachi, argued that they have been living in the country for an extended period and that sudden deportation would disrupt their lives and families.
During the hearing, their legal representatives submitted that the authorities had not provided sufficient notice or justification for immediate removal. They requested the SHC to intervene and issue a stay on expulsion until all legal processes and appeals are fully considered. The petitioners emphasized that they have complied with local laws and submitted relevant documentation to support their stay in Pakistan.
The SHC bench sought detailed responses from the federal immigration authorities regarding the grounds for expulsion and whether proper procedures were followed. Officials explained that the individuals were under scrutiny due to visa irregularities, but assured the court that all actions were being conducted under legal frameworks.
Legal experts observing the case noted that such petitions are not uncommon and often provide temporary relief to immigrants facing immediate deportation. Courts usually examine procedural fairness, the humanitarian aspects of families involved, and compliance with national and international immigration regulations before issuing any directives.
The petitioners’ lawyers argued that abrupt expulsion could severely affect children enrolled in schools and disrupt their livelihoods. They urged the SHC to consider the social and humanitarian implications, in addition to purely legal factors.
The court has reserved its judgment and may announce a decision after reviewing submissions from both sides. Meanwhile, the Turkish immigrants will continue to stay in Pakistan under temporary arrangements until the SHC delivers its ruling.
Authorities emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to upholding immigration laws while balancing humanitarian concerns, and similar cases are assessed carefully to avoid unjust treatment.
