Tump Assistant Commissioner Hanif Noorzai was abducted at gunpoint on Wednesday morning near Tigranabad, Balochistan, while en route to Quetta with his family, local sources confirmed.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of six to eight armed men intercepted his official vehicle, forcibly took him away, and escaped with the car. His wife, driver, and official gunman were left behind unharmed.
In response, security forces have launched an extensive search operation in the region. Snap-checks have been initiated along Zubaida Jalal Road and surrounding areas, while intelligence units are actively working to track the kidnappers.

This incident has raised serious concerns about the security of government officials in Balochistan, especially in the sensitive Makran region. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, seven suspected terrorists linked to the India-backed group Fitna al-Hindustan were killed in separate security operations in Balochistan on June 2, 2025.
The federal government recently designated all terrorist outfits operating in Balochistan under the new term Fitna al-Hindustan, blaming India for allegedly funding a proxy war in the province. A notification from the Ministry of Interior claimed these groups pose threats to Islamic values, Pakistan’s sovereignty, and cultural norms.
Authorities continue their efforts to ensure the safe recovery of Assistant Commissioner Noorzai and bring those responsible to justice.
