Donald Trump’s former physician, Ronny Jackson, provided an update on Trump’s recovery from the gunshot wound he sustained at a July 13 rally in Pennsylvania. Jackson, who previously served as physician to Presidents Trump and Obama, reported that Trump is recovering as expected. The bullet came “less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head” before striking the top of Trump’s right ear.

Jackson described the injury as a “2-centimeter wide wound” that extended to the cartilaginous surface of the ear. Initially, there was significant bleeding and swelling, but these issues have improved. Despite the progress, Trump still experiences intermittent bleeding due to the ear’s vascular nature, requiring a dressing. Jackson indicated that Trump might need a hearing exam to assess any potential impact from the injury.

Trump, who accepted the Republican presidential nomination for the November 5 election five days after the shooting, shared his experience of the incident at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He described the moment of the shooting as feeling a “loud whizzing sound” and a hard hit to his ear, attributing his survival to “the grace of Almighty God.”
