– Tensions between former US President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk have escalated, as Trump issued a stern warning to Musk over potentially funding Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections.

Once political allies, the two have increasingly clashed over policy disagreements. In a recent interview, Trump cautioned Musk of “serious consequences” if he supports Democrats, though he didn’t specify further.

Musk, whose companies benefit from major federal contracts and who previously supported Trump’s campaigns, has openly criticized Trump’s tax and spending legislation, calling it disastrous. He also reignited controversy by referencing Trump’s alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein—remarks later retracted and deleted from social media.

Despite efforts by some Republicans, including VP JD Vance, to mend ties, Trump confirmed the relationship is likely over. Vance labeled Musk’s criticism a “huge mistake” but remained hopeful for reconciliation, albeit unlikely.
